The application of multi-frequency radar technology to the field of civil engineering and, specifically, in search of underground utilities, has taken its first steps more than two decades ago. Since then, technology has never ceased to evolve, both in hardware and in software. This advanced technology is now able to provide highly accurate results with regard to the location of underground utilities and data processing.
TST Engineering has operated in the non-invasive investigations for over ten years and utilizes radar technology as the basis for the majority of the services provided. The principle of radar operation is based on the radiation of electromagnetic waves that propagate in the soil under certain intensities and speeds. Depending on the type of material encountered, waves are reflected from the buried targets (pipes, structures, voids, etc.) with difference levels of intensity and different speeds. These differences are converted into images by applying complex algorithms; these same images are then interpreted by specialized technicians and reported on the project layout.
The best multifrequency radar equipments are used for these studies, assisted by powerful and up-to date data processing softwares, constantly updated and improved thanks to the useful collaboration with our programmers.
