TST Engineering specialises in testing and inspection of bridge desks and tunnels using non-contacting and contacting style GPR systems. Since the late 1990’s we have conducted GPR surveys in numerous cities throughout Europe and beyond.  Identifying the early faults and predicting the remaining service life of bridge decks and tunnels are two preventive measured achieved through this service.

With the use of GPR technology, TST can help address various issued in bridge decks and tunnels. Some examples include:

  • asphalt pavement thickness; wall (concrete) thickness
  • concrete cover of reinforced bars
  • position of pre-stressing tendons or tendon ducts
  • bridge deck deterioration
  • reinforced structures mapping
  • hollow-spaces between concrete and rock

Taking into account the density of today's traffic and the cost involved, non-destructive techniques are of great interest. The Georadar technology allows “seeing” through asphalt, concrete pavement and bridge deck structures, automatically acquiring and storing digitized radar data on hard disk for display and analysis.

TST Engineering and the combined use of Ground Penetrating Radar can deliver information that is
vital for the planning of maintenance work for bridges, tunnels and other traffic infrastructure.
